Conferencia de prensa del Municipio Autónomo de San Juan Copala




La conferencia de prensa contó con la presencia de dos autoridades del Municipio Autónomo de San Juan Copala, Jorge Albino Ortiz y Adalberto Hernández Álvarez y la asistencia de 17 medios de comunicación, entre medios electrónicos oficiales e independientes, así como revistas y diarios. El ambiente se encontraba tenso y a la expectativa de las declaraciones de las autoridades autónomas acerca del asesinato de su líder principal, Timoteo Alejandro Ramírez y la continuación de las acciones de la organización triqui.
Jorge Albino comenzó aclarando que aún estaban esperando el comunicado que emitiría el Municipio Autónomo desde San Juan Copala pero que éste se había retrasado debido a la actividad que se vivía en la región a raíz del asesinato, la autopsia, los preparativos para el funeral y el acompañamiento del cuerpo por parte de varias comunidades para darle seguridad y evitar más conflictos. El comunicado sería enviado por vía electrónica a los asistentes posteriormente.
Sin embargo, la conferencia contó con amplias declaraciones por parte de estas dos autoridades y en primer lugar, el compañero Jorge aclaró enérgicamente que este atentado no frena ni la caravana que se está organizando para este 8 de junio ni el proyecto político de autonomía en la región triqui. Aseguró que este acto era un crimen de Estado y que se cometió porque el compañero Timoteo siempre fue un opositor a la creación del partido político Unidad Popular, proyecto impulsado por el MULT que generó una disidencia por considerarse como un alejamiento de los objetivos de la lucha por la autodeterminación como pueblo indígena.
Ante las preguntas hechas por los reporteros, el compañero Jorge aclaró que no se tenía hasta este momento ningún contacto con la Procuraduría del Estado de Oaxaca pero que se tiene toda la disposición para colaborar en las investigaciones pertinentes y que es necesario que las mismas comiencen a la brevedad para aclarar este asesinato.
Como parte de las declaraciones, Jorge Albino puntualizó que se busca frenar la caravana programada con actos como este así como el rompimiento del cerco paramilitar, por el contrario hizo énfasis en que la organización se fortalecerá para continuar con el proyecto político de unificación de las 32 comunidades triquis y lograr la autonomía y la autodeterminación; declaró que el compañero Timoteo nunca apostó al uso de la violencia para resolver los conflictos y que tampoco se iba a optar por la creación de partidos políticos que sólo generarían divisiones entre comunidades. En este sentido se reafirma la culpabilidad que hace el Municipio Autónomo al Estado mexicano y a sus brazos de acción como el MULT y UBISORT-PRI, por lo que se califican los hechos como un crimen político.
Dentro del marco de la información puntual sobre los sangrientos hechos, el compañero Jorge comentó que, a pesar de las primeras declaraciones de testigos que hablaban de un camión de carga, se trató de un vehículo tipo Jetta de color blanco sin placas, del cual salieron los individuos autores del atentado; se aclaró que estas personas no son originarios del lugar.
Finalmente el compañero Jorge hizo un llamado al gobierno federal para que se haga justicia ante este crimen y señaló que la PGR aún no había iniciado las investigaciones necesarias para el caso de los asesinatos de Bety Cariño y Jryi Jaakkola a pesar de contar con las declaraciones de varios testigos y elementos suficientes para comenzar con esta labor.
Por su parte el compañero Adalberto Hernández Álvarez comenzó su intervención aclarando que la comunidad triqui se encuentra consternada ante el asesinato de un luchador social incansable y máximo promotor de la autonomía y la autodeterminación del pueblo triqui. Expresó el profundo enojo que existe frente a actos de este tipo y que este crimen no debilita a la organización sino que la fortalece, puntualmente expresó que “el aparato estatal como federal ha golpeado a un elemento del Municipio Autónomo pero en esto nada detiene la lucha, al contrario, hoy que cae un compañero, sentimos que nacen muchos Timoteos, muere uno pero nacen miles de Timoteos.”
El compañero Adalberto declaró puntualmente que el Municipio Autónomo de San Juan Copala hace un llamado a la Otra Campaña para que se posicione políticamente respecto a estos acontecimientos y de igual forma solicitó el apoyo para fortalecer la lucha triqui en la búsqueda de la justicia para estos crímenes, el rompimiento del cerco paramilitar y la construcción de la autonomía en la zona. Especificó que son ellos los que han acompañado desde 1994 la lucha zapatista, que son ellos quienes han participado en diversos actos a favor de las comunidades autónomas zapatistas tanto en el estado de Chiapas como en Oaxaca, y que ahora son ellos los que sufren el ataque directo con el descabezamiento del Municipio Autónomo por lo que piden la solidaridad y la unidad de las organizaciones sociales y políticas nacionales e internacionales.
Adalberto hizo hincapié en que han perdido la confianza en el Estado y la justicia federal porque ellos hablan del crimen organizado, “pero el crimen organizado es el Estado, por que van a la casa del compañero y lo matan, eso para nosotros es un crimen de Estado.”
La conferencia de prensa terminó con la reiteración de la exigencia de justicia y de respeto a la autonomía, así como el rechazo total a la estrategia de terminar con el proyecto de San Juan Copala a través de la militarización del territorio trique por parte del Estado y sus paramilitares.

PRESS CONFERENCE FROM “MUNICIPIO AUTONOMO DE SAN JUAN COPALA”
The Press Conference was attended by two officials from the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala, Jorge Albino Ortiz y Adalberto Hernández Álvarez , and assistance from 17 different media, including both official and independent electronic media, as well as magazines and newspapers. The atmosphere was tense and expectant of the statements of the officials of San Juan Copala in regards to the assassination of their top leader, Timoteo Alejandro Ramirez, and the continuing actions of the Triqui organization.
Jorge Albino began explaining that they were still waiting for the official communiqué to be issued by the Municipality  in San Juan Copala, but that this document has been delayed due to the current state of activity experienced in the region following the murder, the autopsy, the preparations for the funeral, and the guarding of the body by several communities in order to provide security and prevent further conflict. The communiqué should be delivered on a later date to all participants, by electronic mail.
However, the press conference was filled with broad statements by these two officials, first, Jorge Albino Ortiz, strongly stated that the assault (to Timoteo Ramirez) would not stop neither the convoy organized for June 8, nor the political project to bring autonomy to the triqui region. He declared that the attack was a State Crime perpetrated because Timoteo opposed the creation of “Unidad Popular”, a political project sponsored  by MULT which originated the dissidence since the creation of such political party was considered a departure from the objectives of the struggle for self-determination of the indigenous community.
Faced with questions from reporters, Jorge Albino explained that at the moment there had been no contact with the State Attorney of Oaxaca, nonetheless they have all the willingness to collaborate with the relevant investigation, and also noted the urgency of starting such investigations to clarify this homicide as soon as possible.
As part of their statement, Jorge Albino pointed out that there are intentions to stop the convoy to be held on June 8, including actions like these, as well as the breaking of the paramilitary blocking, however stressed that the organization will be strengthened to continue the political project of unification of the 32 Triqui communities and achieve autonomy and self-determination; he added that Timoteo never wager on the use of violence in order to resolve conflicts neither opted for the creation of political parties that only generate divisions between communities. On that note, he stressed the belief of the Autonomous Municipality, that is the Mexican state, along with the “action arms” like MULT and UBISORT-PR were responsible, and that therefore this act qualifies as a Political Crime.
Regarding the information relevant to the assassination, Jorge Albino comment that despite the first testimonies of witnesses which point at a Cargo Truck, it was actually a white Volkswagen Jetta with no license plates that the murderers used; clarifying that the individuals are not from that region.
Finally, Jorge Albino, appealed to the federal government of Mexico to provide justice for this crime, and indicated that the General Federal Attorney (PGR) has not yet begun any investigation for the murders of the Finnish human rights activist Jyri Jaakola, and the local community worker Bety Cariño, ambushed last April, despite the testimonies of several witnesses and to have sufficient evidence to start a federal investigation.
For his part, Adalberto Hernández Álvarez started his intervention by stating that the Triqui community is in shock after the assassination of the tirelesss social activist and main promoter of the autonomy and self-determination of the Triqui people.
He expressed the deep sense of anger generated by this violent acts and that such crime far from weaken the organization it makes them stronger, and he points out that “ the state apparatus as well as the federal had hit a member of the ‘Autonomous Municipality”, but this will in no way will stop our struggle, on the contrary, today that one comrade has fall, we felt that many Timoteos have been born, one is dead but thousands of Timoteos will be born”
Comrade Adalberto duly states that the ‘Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala” calls the “Otra Campaña” to position themselves politically after these events, and similarly requested their support to strengthen the triqui struggle demanding justice for these crimes, the breaking of the paramilitary blockage and the construction of the autonomy in the region. He specified that it has been they who had join the Zapatista struggle sin 1994, and that it has been they who had taken part in several acts in favor of the Zapatista autonomous communities in the state of Chiapas as well as in Oaxaca, and that today, is they who are being directly attacked with the beheading of the Autonomous Municipality, for that reason they ask for their solidarity as well as the unity of the social and political organizations within Mexico and Internationally.
Adalberto emphasized in the fact that they had loss any confidence on the State and Federal justice because they speak of Organized Crime, “but the Organized Crime is the State, because they went to our comrade home to kill him, that for us is a State Crime”.
The Press Conference ended with the stressed on the demand for justice and respect for the autonomy, as well as the total rejection of the strategy to eliminate the San Juan Copala project, through the militarization of the Triqui region by the State and their paramilitary.
